Outpatient Department

SELF REFERRED PATIENTS

The Windhoek Central Hospital is a National Referral Hospital; no self-referred/walk in patient will be seen. Such patient should start at the entry level of the Health System, the clinics.

All patients should be referred via a:

  • Medical practitioner

  • Hospital within the referral system

The referral doctor should phone himself to make an appointment with the doctor at the department he is referring to.  Treatment at one speciality does not allow admission to other specialities, without separate referral letters and separate appointments e.g. a patient from Surgical Out Patient Department (SOPD) should get an appointment and a referral letter to be seen by the Gynecology Out Patient Department (GOPD).
